two stitches

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Ringing in a new year often means resolutions up the wazoo for many. Perhaps shedding a few pounds with a new gym membership is what you’re after, or saving a few more pennies here and there would be better. Whatever the case may be, stylish savings are always a great resolution. And an easy way to do just that is using what you’ve already got and then adding a new accessory or two to spice things up. Take the innovative and vintage inspired brooches by Two Stitches. . .

The beautiful colors and imaginative combinations of vintage buttons and fabrics are stunning. What a genius way to update your once favorite black dress or your go to vest that needs a little something extra. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say a touch of Two Stitches is like a whole new wardrobe in itself!

charm school dropout

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Who needs charm school anyway? Except maybe all those gals on VH1. But I’m sure glad painter / mixed media artist Sarah Collier took the path she did, even if charm school wasn’t part of it. Her creations wield such glamour and vintage charm, I love them all.

The colors pop, the fifties and sixties script gives them a depth and focus that makes each one more than just a pretty work of art. Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely pretty, but they’ve got so much beyond that too! Just look and see what I mean . . . from Joe Strummer of The Clash to bathing beauties, I could find a special place in my home for each one.

recess dress

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

I LOVE this dress, the Recess Dress by EC Star. It has a vintage yet modern flair bursting with energy and chic style. The red buttons placed just off to the side, the belt and feminine corduroy trim really sealed the deal for me.  Available on ModCloth - a site chalk full of original vintage pieces and super nifty designer duds – if I had my way I’d wear it tomorrow.

envy and fallen hearts

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Taking old costume jewelry and making it new again is a favorite around here. Breathing fresh, creative life into a necklace charm or vintage pendant gives each piece a special story and meaning. Buzz Designs has so many re-newed treasures, it’s hard to choose! But today, envy and the fallen heart have caught my eye. Made with vintage brass and vintage enamel metal, they’re petite and charming. Did I mention Buzz offers free shipping? Perfect gifts for sure!

Fallen Heart $30

Envy $30

The vintage glamour of Luxe Deluxe  handmade jewelry is utterly divine. I have absolutely fallen in love with the sweet and unexpected designs of Adrienne Morikawa, the mastermind behind all of these beautiful objects. She uses flowers, beads and intricate little charms that make me want to wear all of it at once. Well maybe not. But I’ll still take one of everything please, thank you.

Heirloom Locket – includes sparrow charm and map of London. Locket glass opens giving you the option to change the photo and charm inside. ($124)

Owlicious ($38)

Winter Bloom Necklace ($28)

Rhiannon Necklace ($49)

tick tock goes the clock

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

As this historic evening ticks along, I can’t help but fall for this fantastic 8 X 10 photo by Blissful Images. The vintage clocks have a classic style that I love and more importantly, a style your room will love.

Blissful Images features photos of cupcakes and dahlias that are without a doubt, just as fabulous.
