i’d rather be with you

Joshua Radin’s ability to calm and inspire is undeniable. His songs are earnest and always straight from the heart and lately I’ve taken to his whistful tune “Vegetable Car” which I’ll share with you later this week. Today, I’m posting his live performance of “I’d Rather Be With You” from Conan O’Brien just a few weeks ago. His sweet lullabye lyrics are balanced nicely with the vintage, country sound of the steel guitar. . . a very charming acoustic performance.

I know what you’re thinking, two Kin posts in one week? Why yes! In the midst of recording their new album, Isaac and Thorry of The Kin have been kind enough to record some of their latest shows and studio sessions. They have such depth in harmony and tone, it’s no wonder their legion of fans is growing by the minute. With spontaneous performances like the one below, (lucky you if you’ve caught them singing in their favorite coffee shops across the US!), you can’t help but appreciate their effortless talent.

The Kin’s musicality, harmonies and ability to take any song and make it soar is why all of their work is on my iPod. Currently recording a new album, the Kin have been busy streaming live video of the process on Kyte TV. Hearing the new stuff in the studio is super cool, and hearing their spontaneous performance of “When Doves Cry” is pretty nifty too.
