Happy St. Paddy’s Day all. Hope your day is filled with greeny goodness! And since the day calls for it, here’s my one and only Irish joke. What’s Irish and stays out all night? Paddy O’Furniture. Cue drum roll ching! See, I knew you’d love it. Maybe.

But you know what else you might love? These cool flower brooches made from vintage zippers. Sorta edgy but still sweet at the same time, and what isn’t great about that? Keeps people guessing. And of course, they come in a bunch of colors, but in the spirit of today, I’ll stick with showing you the a couple with some green!

Let’s face it, there are many things that catch my eye upon entering an antique store. There’s the bizarre, the downright creepy, the laughable and of course the reason for walking through the door, the collectable. Lately I’m loving the look of vintage scales, from measuring postage to baking ingredients to even egg grades, these vintage scales are not only affordable, but classic and chic. A cool accent for any room in the house, the antique look only adds to the character. Just think of all the sappy romantic letters measured over the years by that cool postage scale below?! Love love love it. . .

A very important baby’s birthday is today. . . so in honor of the sweetest little girl ever, I took inspiration from one of my favorite things, cameos and silhouettes, for one of my favorite people, Miss E. By using a photo of her from the side, I was able to create funky, cute cameos of her precious noggin. I think it turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself! And of course, if you think they’re as cool as I do, I’d be happy to take requests!

She & Him released the video for their new single “In the Sun” off their upcoming release Volume Two. As expected, Zooey Deschanel has a few great outfits and a few fun, quirky moments here and there. But I guess what I wasn’t ready for was how awkward she was doing choreographed dance moves in a high school hallway. But oh well, I still like her. . . a lot! And perhaps her dancing awkwardness will make her more likable?! Check it out below. . . and be sure to check out upcoming tour dates here! I bet watching her dance super weird like is better in person. Ha!

Boy oh boy, what a great week! She & Him released their second single off their forthcoming sophomore project She & Him Volume Two. I have no clue what one could put in there, but this dainty drawer ring is super unique and cool. I love the mix of the metal with the itsy-bitsy drawer, it’s a great balance of spicy and sweet, and a great modern take on the classic locket. It’s also a fantastic set-up for a corresponding Valentine message! Clearly not one that goes inside, but you know what I mean. Something along the lines of where to keep a key to someone’s heart, yadda yadda yadda, you get it! So. . . happy Valentine’s Day!

The gents of Spoon make writing things in reverse sound positively cool. Their latest single “Written in Reverse” off their album Transference is gritty and outlined in a stomping back beat that gets the atmosphere moving.

Finally, Free Energy has released a few more scrumptious hints about their upcoming full-length debut album Stuck on Nothing due out this March. First fun item, they’ve released the cover art which is pretty cool. And for whatever reason, the font and hazy sorta sketch reminds me of the lovely 80’s Garbage Pail Kid cards. Perhaps that’s what they were going for?!

And the second tasty tidbit, is they’ve been generous enough to share a second track off the forthcoming album. Line up the hand claps and cow bell rings! Yee haw. Check out the latest track “Hope Child” below.
